Last night, I rode Munson for the millionth time this month.
I was on a completely different page than my riding buddies.
The lack of synchronicity was stressful.
The sweat dripping from my helmet was rancid, both in smell and taste.
When I was finally alone in the woods, I noticed the sky was the most beautiful, mottled, black and orange.
I wiped my face, and the woods smelled like Christmas.

Who are you and what have you done with Big Worm.
Man, I had a great (and short) response all lined up. But I felt bad. Jeeesh. So, my new response is this: What the hell happened? Terry seemed to have the best ride of his life last night, and you....
They wanted to go fast, I didn't. It's not that the pace was unmanageable. But just because I CAN do something, doesn't mean I HAVE to do something. My legs have been tired and sore after alot of my rides lately, and I guess in the back of my head, I keep thinking about racing again in 2010. So, if that's the case, hammering my brains out on every ride, during this time of year, doesn't make much sense. Does it?
The only stressful part was getting them to understand that I was fine being alone. They would wait up. I'd explain. They'd go slower for a little while, but the pace inevitably ramped back up, and I'd feel obliged to go with them, because they kept waiting for me. I had no problem whatsoever with them going fast. They were enjoying themselves. I just wanted the same understanding, and instead it ended up in this weird stress yo-yo.
As for Terry, he's finally found his Munson legs. It's nice to ride out there with him, and not see him wanting to swallow a shotgun barrel.
pass the 12 gauge my way please. I'll ride slow with you buddy. Slow as you want. Slow as you can.
Wait, I’m confused. Do I post a comment here or is this the blog posting area?
Are you guys really training for Felasco.
I think that was a compliment...BASTARD!
Doesn't matter to me, Mingo. You and Cliff were the ones who inspired me to write this piece.
I think I see Jesus and his reindeer.
